This is a quote from a German journalist in August 2010, when he took questions about Volkswagen, in which he describes the company as an “industrial company” and as having “been the best of the best for the last 30 years.” The writer is only responding as a journalist but he is probably quoting those who don’t speak German, which sounds pretty familiar in an interview with a reporter in the Netherlands about VW’s operations in the USA.
 Volkswagen has sold its diesel cars to 3.5 million vehicles since they entered the service in 2004. Although none of those buyers were named, Volkswagen sold four of the four to the German auto giant GM. It is likely that this is a direct comparison:
