Grindr turns 10: just how ten years with GPS ‘dating’ apps altered all of us

On the day the guy established Grindr — just ten years ago this Monday — founder Joel Simkhai stated really the only call the guy received had been from opponent, Manhunt, with a buyout give of “$20,000 or $35,000.”

But after actor and comedian Stephen Fry demoed Grindr go on british television show “Top accessories” a few months afterwards in June 2009, every thing altered. Simkhai said there were 10,000 downloads overnight and it “felt like every gay man knew about it.”
