Fun Indoor Games for Dogs

Sometimes, it’s simply easier to exercise your pet indoors rather than out. Perhaps you don’t have a large enough yard, or the weather isn’t agreeable. Whatever your reason, your Atlanta, GA veterinarian is here to help with these suggestions:

Hallway Fetch

Do you have a hallway? Clear it of any valuable or breakable items and use it as a dog run. Stand at one end with your dog, and get one of his favorite toys or a tennis ball. Now, toss it down the hall for your dog and have him bring it back to you. Repeat!

Classic Tug-of-War

Tug-of-war is a classic dog game, and it certainly is a lot of fun for your canine companion. Use a solid length of rope or a solid dog toy; just make sure there aren’t any small pieces that could come off and be swallowed or choked on.

Obstacle Course

Try making a homemade obstacle course out of chairs, pillows, blankets, ottomans, and the like. Put dog treats around the course strategically to entice your dog. This can be fun for the whole family!
